How I developed into my role at Marsh McLennan, and my future

Clients are typically supported by a lead, a consultant and an analyst like myself. Analysts learn on-the-job when they work for the client by taking directions from the consultant, and having the lead peer review their work. Over time, analysts expand their investment knowledge, develop their professional skills and can potentially transition into a consultant role after a couple of years.

How I would describe the culture within my team

The team hierarchy is quite flat, and discussions with consultants and leads are encouraged. The pool of analysts is also a close-knit group – each of them are ready to provide some support if you need it even if they aren’t working on the same projects you are.

What I enjoy most about my job

As an analyst, besides doing the groundwork, I get to take part in the client’s Investment Committee meetings, where I get to connect with big names in the industry. Also, observing Mercer’s presentation and how my team tackles the Question-and-Answer (Q&A) sessions are both eye-opening and enriching experiences. It remains one of the job highlights to me, and something I always look forward to.
