What career growth and development looks like in my role at Marsh McLennan

As a management associate at Marsh McLennan, I’m extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to learn about, and work on, different product lines in the industry. This is especially important at the start of my career, as it builds on the depth of my knowledge in various aspects of the business, allowing me to gain first-hand experience before making an informed decision on the area of business I would prefer to explore further and specialise in. In terms of career growth, I’m on track to obtaining my ACII qualification, which will contribute to my success in this industry in the future.

How I would describe the culture within my team

Although we’re a small team of only four people, we’re very diverse in our backgrounds and personalities, which come together to complement one another very well in offering varied points of views and opinions. Embracing this diversity of thought makes our daily work more exciting, as we’re constantly involved in different dialogues. Being new to the industry, I’m always encouraged to share my views because the team values fresh ideas brought to the table for new discussions and potential outcomes.

What I enjoy most about my job

The pandemic has actually made my time at Marsh thoroughly exciting. While business activities may have been easier to conduct in a soft market, I’ve definitely learnt a lot more in this hard market that we’re presently facing. After all, it’s through such times that we have to work through the challenges of satisfying our clients’ increasing risk management needs and cost savings demands, alongside establishing and maintaining relationships with our business partners.
