My company and my job
I'm part of Cognizant Business Consulting. In the past two and a half years, I've worked in multiple projects across industries and countries, taking on completely different roles for each. In my first project, I provided digital solutions to create a "Future of the Store" concept for a supermarket chain. For my second project, I provided Organizational Change Management (OCM) solutions with a primary focus on training for a core banking transformation project in a private bank. In my third and current project, I provide OCM solutions with a primary focus on communications for a global spin-off project for a chemical company.
How I got my job
I was initially hired for a business development support role in Cognizant. One thing which set me apart from the rest was my proactive preparation of a presentation with research findings on Cognizant which I presented during the interview. Due to rotation opportunities within Cognizant, I moved into Cognizant Consulting practice six months after getting hired.
The highs and lows
The best part of my job is having the opportunity to work in various types of projects across different industries. I'm always learning new things and getting to know people. The most challenging aspect of my job is also the part I love the most: to keep learning new things and mastering new skills to cope with uncertainties in any project. I feel I have yet to achieve my biggest achievement but I'm well on my way!
Training and support
I worked with many project managers and supervisors in the past two and a half years. While they range in the level of expertise, specialization, and years of experience, they were all very approachable and eager to guide me through difficult and challenging work situations.
Work-life balance varies with projects. Some involve heavy workloads requiring late hours and weekends, while others do not require any overtime at all.
There are many things I like about Cognizant. Firstly, the environment is informal and open. It's easy to connect with colleagues from different departments who are always friendly and eager to offer help and advice. Secondly, Cognizant values employee career development. This can be seen from well-structured training programs, connect sessions with the senior management team, external trainings etc. Lastly, Cognizant provides me with the best platform to benefit from working in different projects across industries and countries.
