A day in the life of…
Ashley How, Operation Excellence Intern
Ashley How, an undergraduate at Nanyang Business School, is also an Operation Excellence Intern at AXA Singapore.
9AM - 12PM
Still munching my breakfast on the way to work, I walk into my office to the area where I usually sit by the pantry. Every morning, I am greeted by the refreshing sunlight and scenic view from my 27th floor window seat. I love the idea that there are no fixed desks and you can choose where to sit in the office. Personally, I like to sit facing the window as sometimes it can take my mind off work and allow me to take a breather when I am bombarded with work.
My morning is made better with my amiable and fun colleagues that are sitting beside me at work. I go for lunch with colleagues in my team, as well as colleagues from other departments. I get to know more people, and I think that’s great!

The people in my team are fun-loving. We hang out after work and even have dinner together on Fridays to take a break from a long week. They have also invited me to join them in gatherings and overseas vacations.
As for work, I really enjoy what I do such as creating robots for automation and solving difficult bugs for different users.
Occasionally, my mentor will ask me out for a short catch-up and even host lunch sessions for the interns to mingle with each other.
During my time as an intern, I participated in a Masterclass session conducted by LinkedIn, where I learned how to better position myself to prospective employers; helped to deliver goodie bags to different households with cancer patients as part of Corporate Responsibility Week; and took part in the AXA Intern Challenge, where my team and I tackled real-life business cases.
I am grateful to AXA Singapore for these amazing experiences. I get to know and talk to many people, and have lunch with different people as well. I will cherish my time here. After my internship ends, I hope that the friendships formed with my team and the other interns will continue on. I look forward to asking them out for a simple meal and catch up on the times that we have spent together in AXA Singapore. I will miss my time here!
