What are the skill sets you look for in fresh graduate applicants?

The Siemens vision is Ingenuity for Life! We are looking for graduates who are and want to become Future Makers and help Siemens to “make real what matters”.

We seek characteristics such as change orientation, curiosity, and an open mind, as these are needed in times of constant change.

Our candidates also need to have technical knowledge relevant for driving innovation in Siemens – in topic areas such as Intelligent Infrastructure, Sustainable Energy, Future of Manufacturing, Digitalization, as well as in expert areas of Finance, IT, and Logistics for instance.

How do you identify culture fit during the recruitment process?

Well, there is a mix of science, experience and trust in looking for culture fit among candidates. There is science because we are using artificial intelligence in certain areas of identification.

Experience plays a part because we have learnt that ‘bias’ has a strong influence and needs to be neutralised as much as possible, such as through setting up diverse interview panels.

Lastly, trust comes into the picture. At some point in time, the company will give you the go-ahead without being absolutely sure of a ‘culture fit’, as there is never ‘full assurance’.

Please describe your company's culture in three words.

I can do it in one word – ownership! The ownership culture at Siemens is based on our company values of excellence, innovation and responsibility.
