Job Description

  • Research and develop concepts and cognitive methodologies in the area of information processing for structured/unstructured data to enhance information processing capabilities
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques on large-scale datasets to address business needs
  • Work with rich multimodal datasets and high velocity data streams
  • Identify high-impact opportunities for applying machine learning and data analytics to solve key business issues
  • Perform data preprocessing and feature engineering, build and deploy machine learning models, and design experiments to evaluate techniques and algorithms
  • Conceptualise, design and develop advanced capabilities for users in fulfilling critical missions
  • Actively conduct technology scans to understand technical and commercial drivers and leverage these technology advances and opportunities to guide in-house R&D efforts
  • Collaborate closely with business users to extract actionable insights from data and develop data-driven solutions to meet their needs
  • Perform data analysis and visualisation, and present analytical insights to business users and stakeholders
  • Provide technical inputs on data pipelining and architecture to meet the strategic goals of the organisation


  • Master's and/or Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, information systems, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative/analytical fields; Applicants with PhDs and/or more than 3 years of experience working in data science or machine domains will be considered for senior positions
  • Strong analytical skills and conceptualisation ability; Able to look beyond conventional boundaries while considering practical realities
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB or similar (familiarity with Python-based machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, numpy/scipy and pandas preferred)
  • Strong understanding in one or more of the following areas preferred:
    • Data mining and knowledge discovery
    • Machine learning
    • Text mining and taxonomy
    • Data clustering, categorisation, entity extraction
    • Visualisation and link analysis
    • Artificial intelligence algorithms
    • Neural network, fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms
  • Prior experience in applying machine learning to solve problems in natural language processing, computer vision and speech processing preferred
  • Project experience in any area of cognitive processing will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of big data and streaming technologies such as Hadoop and Spark will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of Java programming will be an added advantage
